Playground Project Installations
Safety Surface, Inc. has installed our surfacing at
several playgrounds. This provides a much safer, attractive and longer-lasting
surface than mulch. Our surface is IPEMA Certified, ASTM Tested and Certified,
and exceeds all Use Zone requirements. The installation process includes:
- Remove existing mulch up to at least 6 inches
- Lower and level playground equipment, if necessary
- Install adequate drainage systems, if necessary
- Fill the area with at least 4 inches of crushed stone (more if necessary due to excessive moisture)
- Apply a based coat of shredded rubber of 1 to 1.5 inches (based on fall height requirements)
- Apply a top coat of virgin rubber 3/8 to ½ inches (again, based on fall height requirements)
